Cabinets that have been painted and rehung before
With a median build year of 1959, many Rosemead kitchens still have their original site-built boxes, often painted or refaced along the way. Each round of new hinges adds screw holes to the same stile, and eventually there is no solid wood left. We plug the old holes with glued hardwood and drill fresh, so the hinge holds again.
Drawers in older kitchens tend to ride on wood runners or early metal slides with plastic wheels. When the box itself is still square, a new pair of slides sized to the opening gives you a smooth full pull without replacing the cabinet.
How we fix a sagging door or a dropping drawer
Find the failure
Most sagging cabinet doors come from one of three things: hinge screws that have stripped out of the wood, a concealed hinge that has drifted out of adjustment, or a hinge that has simply worn out. We open and close the door and check each hinge in turn.
Repair the wood, not just the screw
Longer screws only buy a little time in a stripped hole. We drill out the old hole, glue in a hardwood plug, let it set, and drill fresh. On particleboard boxes we use repair inserts made for that material.
Adjust as a set
Once every hinge holds, we adjust the doors side to side, up and down and in and out, so the gaps between neighboring doors line up across the run. For drawers we measure the opening and the box, pick slides sized for the depth and load, and set them so the drawer front lines up with its neighbors.
Check every door and drawer
Before leaving we open and close each door and drawer in the kitchen, not only the ones on the list, and tell you about any others close to the same failure.

What goes to a cabinet shop
We repair and adjust cabinets you have. New cabinets, refacing a whole kitchen, building new doors to match, or countertop work goes to a cabinet shop or general contractor.

While we’re out for this, Rosemead customers often add cabinet hardware installation, under-cabinet lighting installation, shelf installation, range hood installation or outlet, switch and GFCI replacement.

Cabinet questions
Can you replace drawer slides?
Yes. We measure the old side-mount or undermount slides and fit a matching pair, soft-close if you like.
Why do my cabinet doors not line up?
Hinges need adjusting. We align them.
How much does cabinet door repair cost in Rosemead?
Depends on hinges. Send photos.
Can you add soft-close hinges?
Yes, often on the same hinge holes if the style matches.
My drawer bottom fell out. Can you fix it?
Yes. We glue and fasten a new bottom panel in place.
Can you fix a cabinet that has pulled away from the wall?
Usually. If the box is solid and the wall framing is sound, we refasten it into studs with cabinet screws and shim it level. Water-damaged or broken boxes go to a cabinet shop.
My cabinet door will not stay closed. Why?
On concealed hinges, the adjustment screws have usually backed out or the spring has weakened. On older face-frame hinges, the screws have loosened in the wood. Both are fixable in place.
Can you convert my hinges to soft-close?
Often, yes. Many concealed hinges accept clip-on dampers, or we swap to soft-close hinges of the same mounting type.
The drawer bottom fell out. Can it be repaired?
Usually. We refit a new bottom panel into the existing groove or add support, and reglue the box joints if they have opened.
How do you match hinges on an old kitchen?
We take one off and match the overlay, mounting style and finish. If an exact match is gone, we use a modern hinge that fits the same holes or plug and redrill neatly.
