Closets in Rosemead ranch homes
Rosemead’s housing has a median build year of 1959, and the ranch houses from that period often got their wardrobe sliders or bifolds swapped in a later update. Those replacement kits used nylon wheels and plastic guides that crack after a couple of decades, which is why so many doors here start to drag or drop out of the track at the same time.
New floors are the other common cause. Laminate or tile laid over the old floor raises it enough that a bifold catches or a slider rubs at the bottom guide. We adjust the pivots first, and only shorten a door when the adjustment runs out.
How a closet door gets fixed
Watch it move
We open and close each panel to see where it binds: at one end, along the whole run, or at the floor.
Lift it out
The panel comes off the track so the rollers, pivots and guide pins can be checked by hand.
Swap the worn parts
Matching rollers, pivots or a new track go in, fastened into the header rather than just the drywall.
Set the gaps
Height and plumb are adjusted until the doors meet evenly and roll without a push.
When it needs more than parts
A sagging header over the closet or a wall that has moved points to framing, which goes to a carpenter. Brand-new built-in closet systems are outside what we do.
While we’re out for this, Rosemead customers often add pocket door repair, closet organizer installation, interior door repair, cabinet door and drawer repair or lock and smart lock installation.

Closet door questions from Rosemead
What fixes a bifold door that won’t fold?
A new top pivot, guide or bracket, and adjusting the bottom pivot.
Why does my bifold door keep popping off the track?
Usually the top guide pin has worked loose or the floor pivot has slipped. Tightening or replacing those parts and resetting the bracket keeps it in.
Can you fix a mirrored closet door?
Yes. We lift the panel with two people, replace the rollers and bottom guide, and adjust it so the mirror sits straight.

My sliding closet door is hard to push. What’s wrong?
Flattened rollers or grit in the track. New rollers and a cleaned track usually make it glide again.

Do I need new doors or just new hardware?
Most of the time the hardware. We only suggest a new panel when the door itself is split or warped.

How much does closet door repair cost?
It depends on the door type and the parts it needs. A short video lets us send a free estimate before anything is booked.
Can you fix a pocket door?
Often, through the opening. If the track inside the wall has failed, we tell you before opening anything up.
