Walls behind the mount
In a one-story Rosemead ranch house the TV usually goes on a living-room wall, and framing in older houses isn’t always on the 16-inch spacing a mount expects, and some walls hide pipes or wiring. We scan before drilling and adjust the mount position if we need to.
Strapping dressers, bookcases and TVs
Since September 2023, a federal mandatory standard has required clothing storage units such as dressers and armoires to meet key stability requirements, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says in its Anchor It! update. A dresser bought before then was not built to that rule.
CPSC’s advice covers every tall piece in the house: anchor TVs, bookcases and dressers securely to the wall, keep toys and remotes off high spots where kids may climb to reach them, and keep heavier items on lower shelves.
Before you call: what to check
- Measure your TV diagonally and check the mount’s VESA pattern on its box.
- Decide on viewing height while sitting down. Eye level when seated is a good starting point.
- Tall dressers and bookcases should be anchored, especially with young kids at home.

Mounting: common questions
What do you mount into in a stucco ranch house?
Inside walls in most Rosemead ranch houses are gypsum board over wood studs. We find the studs for anything heavy and use the right anchor for lighter pieces. Plaster or masonry gets anchors made for those materials.
Do I need to buy the mount or hardware first?
It helps. Buy the TV mount, shelf, rod or grab bar you like, and we will bring the screws, anchors and tools. If you are unsure what to buy, text a photo of the wall and the item and we can suggest a type.
Can you hang several things together?
Yes. A list of pictures, mirrors, shelves and curtain rods in different rooms groups well into one job. Tell us how many pieces and roughly how big they are so we can plan the time.
